If you caught my flip-flop post the other day, you’ll know I began talking about the difference between thongs and flip flops, with the primary difference being price & materials. Even though the general construct of the two is the same, thongs always are made with more substantial and generally more natural materials and it is reflected in their price.

In addition to these two very evident differences there is also the fact that thongs generally have some type of heel, even if it is a mere 1/10 of an inch.

I’ve noticed many shoe stores referring to them as “Thong Sandals” lately, but in my mind, if they don’t have a strap around the ankle or some type of closure on the back they aren’t really sandals.
